মোহনদাস করমচাঁদ গান্ধী বিলাতফেরত

ব্যারিস্টার ছিলেন।
Mohandas Karam Chad Gandhi was a
returnee barrister from Europe.

কিন্তু ভারতে আইন ব্যবসা জমাতে না পেরে
পাড়ি জমান দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকায়।
But having failed in law business in India, he
went to South Africa.

১৮৯৩ থেকে ১৯১৪ সাল পর্যন্ত সে
দেশে থাকার সময় তিনি আইন ব্যবসার পাশাপাশি
ভারতীয় সম্প্রদায়ের স্বার্থ রক্ষার কাজে ব্যস্ত
ছিলেন।
since 1893 to 1914, when he stayed the
country along with law business, he was busy
with defending rapport of Indians.

তার চেষ্টা ছিলো এটা প্রমাণ করা যে
ভারতীয়দের গায়ের রং কালো হলেও তারা
আফ্রিকানদের চেয়ে শ্রেয়তর, ক্ষমতাসীন
শেতাঙ্গদের সমগোত্রীয়।
His ambition was to prove it that, although
the Indians are black, they are better than the
Africans, and equivalent to powerful White's.

গান্ধী দক্ষিণ আফ্রিকায় যাওয়ার পরপরই সে
দেশের আইন পরিষদে এক চিঠি লিখে
ভারতীয়দের শেতাঙ্গ হিসেবে মর্যাদার দাবি
তোলেন।
Soon after going South Africa, Gandhi wrote a
letter to the parliament of the country
claimed to dignify the Indians as White's.

তিনি যুক্তি দেন, ভারতীয় ও শেতাঙ্গরা উভয়ই
নৃ-তাত্বিকভাবে 'আর্যগোত্রীয়'। তিনি দক্ষিণ
আফ্রিকায় যাওয়ার পরপরই সে দেশের শেতাঙ্গ
প্রভুদের মনোভাবের সঙ্গে পরিচিত হন।
He argued that both the Indians and White's
are anthropologically Aryan.Soon after having
gone South Africa, Gandhi acquainted with the
racist attitudes of the White's Lords.

১৮৯৩ সালে এক মামলার সূত্রে তিনি নাটাল
থেকে ট্রেনে করে প্রিটোরিয়া যাচ্ছিলেন।
সঙ্গে প্রথম শ্রেণীর টিকেট,যথারীতি নিজের
আসনে এসে বসলেন।
In 1893 connected with a case he was going
Pritoria from Natal.With a first class ticket, he
took his seat as usual.

খানিক পর একই কামরায় এলেন এক সাদা
সাহেব,গান্ধীকে দেখে তো তিনি রেগে কাই।
প্রথম শ্রেণীতে শুধু সাদাদের থাকার কথা,
কালোদের নয়
Aftet some time, a white lord entered in the
same room,seeing Gandhi he raised the roof.
Only the White's are supposed to stay in the
first class, not a Black.

তার অভিযোগের পর ট্রেনের চেকার
এসে গান্ধীকে তল্পিতল্পা গুটিয়ে ভিন্ন কামরায়
সরে যেতে বলেন। গান্ধী বলেন না যাবো না।
After his complaint, the checker of the train
came and said to Gandhi to leave the room bag
and baggage. Gandhi replied, no i won’t go.

চেকার এবার ডেকে আনলেন একজন সাদা
পুলিশকে। সে কোনো কথায় কান না দিয়ে
একটানে গান্ধীর স্যুটকেস ছুড়ে ফেলে
দিলো প্লাটফর্মের ওপর।
The checker called in a white police. Heeded
no pay to Gandhi, the white police thrown away
his suitcase at once on the platform of the train.
